Allocating reactive compensation through decoupling technique. / Amar BOUSBAINE
Titre : Allocating reactive compensation through decoupling technique. Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Amar BOUSBAINE, Auteur Année de publication : 1988 Importance : 137 p. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Electronique Mots-clés : Reactive compensation load flow line var allocation model Résumé : In the present-day power systems the reactive compensation allocation for the best voltage profile at a minimum cost is one of the important studies in power system analysis. The traditional approach is to use many repeated power flow studies to determine the right size as well as the correct locations. Recently published optimal techniques cannot be easily adopted to solve system of practical size. In this work, a method is developed which avoids both of these approaches. It makes use of the decoupling property of the AC power flow algorithm and the linearity model of the reactive compensation – bus voltage magnitude relations. The method can be divided into two parts. The first part is the AC power flow where the power system load flow is discussed. The second part is the allocation of compensation where a detailed mathematical formulation of the reactive compensation is given. The minimization of the total required reactive compensation installation is formulated as a linear programming problem based on voltage constraints. An additional feature of this method is that it can be used in conjunction with any standard AC load flow programs using the decoupling principle.
The method is tested on a section of the Malaya Electricity Network to bring out the advantages of this approach.
