Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Electronique Mots-clés : motorola  32-bit microprocessors  mc68020 microprocessor Résumé : the object of the work presented in this thesis is to investigate the performance of the motorola mc68020 32-bit microprocessor the thesis describes the features of 32-bit microprocessors, in particular the mc68020,which make them suitable for the design of low-cost high performance computers, the design of a general purpose single board based on the mc68020 is presented. in order to evaluate the performance of this integrated circuit, benchmarking was carried out on the designed single board as well as a single board system using the mc68000.two workstations ( apollo dn330 and sun 3/50using the mc68020 ascpu, and two minicomputers ( vax 11/750 and micro vax ii) were included in the benchmarking. it has been found that the mc68020 has a processing power abut four times of its predecessor the mc68000, and the systems based on the mc68020 have a power equivalent to that of the superminis.
